Far from being a closed-door secret society, the Kingsland Masonic Lodge is a fraternal organization dedicated to a timeless mission: "building better men." By focusing on personal character development, integrity, and lifelong learning, the Lodge aims to uplift families and support the community right here in Kingsland.

Here is a look at how Kingsland Masons are quietly making a massive impact on local education, youth, and community leaders.

Investing in Local Classrooms and Youth

The Lodge places a massive emphasis on supporting local education, starting from the very first grade and extending all the way to high school graduation.

• The Fantastic Teeth Fan Club: In a proud partnership with Masonic Children & Family Services of Texas, Lodge members assemble and distribute free dental hygiene kits to local first graders. These prevention packages include toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and fun educational tools to build healthy habits early.
• School Partnerships & Literacy: The Masons work closely with area schools on literacy programs like the Take Time to Read initiative, while also providing honorariums to celebrate and support local teachers.
• Honesty & Integrity Awards: Character matters. Every year, the Lodge honors standout high school juniors who demonstrate exceptional ethical leadership. The awards are presented to two juniors from Llano High School and two juniors from Kingsland School.
• High School Scholarships: To ease the rising costs of higher education, the Lodge provides annual scholarships to local graduating seniors, helping them transition into Texas colleges, universities, or trade schools.

Honoring Local Heroes and Supporting Veterans

Beyond the classroom, the Kingsland Masonic Lodge #1424 is committed to supporting those who make the community a better place to live. Through annual charitable donations, the Lodge funds vital programs like the Boys & Girls Club to uplift local youth, and Vet Rides, which ensures local veterans have reliable transportation to their medical appointments.

The Lodge also believes in giving public credit where credit is due. Each year, they hand out two major awards:

• The Golden Trowel Award: This is given internally to recognize Masons who demonstrate exemplary, consistent volunteer service to both the Lodge and the broader Kingsland area.
• The Community Builder Award: This is the highest honor a Lodge can bestow upon a non-Mason. It is awarded to outstanding local leaders, educators, and citizens. For example, the 2026 Community Builder Award was recently presented to Janie Shults for her incredible, selfless advocacy in raising funds and coordinating free breast cancer screenings for underserved women in Kingsland.
